PAO.8 EXPERIMENTAL ARCHITECTURE SUMMERCAMP

What the Hack? Pioneering Ideas!

For the 8th edition of the PAO Experimental Architecture Summerschool we will install a hands-on Idea Hackerspace. Radical innovations like Edison´s phonograph, the Wright brothers´ aeroplane, or Google´s search engine prove that breakthrough discoveries are made by highly ambitious yet small collectives who co-work in a kind of garage ambience.

Hacking as a form of collective group interaction combines maximum intelligence and creativity. “To hack” is to experiment with given things, concepts and technologies, and to transform them into surprising new ideas. Hackerspaces – garage labs, innovation shacks, barn studios – are the right places for that.

PAO takes such “Garage Creativity” as recipe for it´s 2012 session. The idea-lab will synergize the impulses from diverse fields such as architecture, software design, arts & crafts, and engineering. Fueled by their multiplied input, modes of co-working and co-creation will trigger a vibrant atmosphere will be triggered where interdisciplinary ad-hoc projects can emerge and freely develop.
